(Feeling) Grief

When I began creating my Feelings series, I always knew I would need to make Grief.  Not necessarily because I would be feeling grief but rather, because it’s an emotion we all experience at some point.  It’s a feeling of raw pain and anguish in the early days, weeks, and months of a loss, eventually edging back into the corners of the heart, yet occasionally rising in waves of sadness at unexpected moments even years later.

Grief drowns us.  It swallows us down and we let it.  We fight our way to the surface to bargain with our Divinity before sinking again into despair, hiding ourselves away, hoping if we hide long enough, it won’t be true.  Eventually, we float, accepting the truth but still never knowing when another wave will come along and swamp us with our loss.

When I opened my design journal to the next doodle for my series, I knew it was time.  This is Grief, as I imagine it would look if feelings had color and shape and texture.

If you are grieving, this piece is for you.  You are seen and you are loved and the one you’ve lost is always with you.

Next up: I’m taking a short hiatus from creating any new work — big changes underway in our household (all good!!).  Once things have settled back down, I’ll be back in late April or early May to continue work on my Feelings series.

Info about my Feelings series: I interpret my random abstract doodles as emotions.  The guiding point is the outer boundary of the doodle.  The boundary evokes the feeling.  From there, I contemplate how to bring that particular feeling alive in fiber.

(Feeling) Dynamic

2019 has been an exciting year, one filled with change and personal growth and adventures, so it seems fitting my final piece for the year is (Feeling) Dynamic.

To feel dynamic means to feel highly energized, productive, influential, and powerful.  It means you put yourself out there to play big, using your charisma to motivate and inspire others.  Let’s make 2020 a dynamic year!

How dynamic are you?

Constructive criticism and comments are always welcome.  Please share your thoughts!

Next up: I will continue to work on my Feelings series into 2020.  There are so many feelings to be created out of fiber!

Side note: I fulfilled my goal of six textured fiber paintings for the year.  Yay me!

My art and my work go hand in hand.  I’m a Leadership Development Trainer & Coach, helping stressed out, frantic, frazzled professionals and the companies who employ them learn how to slow down and speak up, acquiring the skills to lead instead of follow, so everyone can feel like they’ve got their shit together.  I lead them from crisis mode to working in harmony so they can become the leaders they know it’s possible to be.  If you’re interested in leadership development training and coaching, please join me over at Harmony Coaching.

(Feeling) Perplexed

Full reveal of my 5th piece for the year!  (Feeling) Perplexed is complete.

When we feel perplexed, it can feel like the world is a puzzle, one where we’re presented with questions and moral quandaries that promote reflection.  Sometimes, like a Zen koan, we may never truly find the answer we seek to end our perplexion, yet we continue to move forward.

What has left you feeling perplexed lately?

Constructive criticism and comments are always welcome.  Please share your thoughts!

My art and my work go hand in hand.  I’m a Performance Mindset Coach, helping stressed out, frantic, frazzled professionals slow down and reconnect to their intuition so they can get their shit together.  I’ve walked the road my clients are on.  My method to slow down was through development of a creative practice, which helped me regain my voice and led me to want to serve others in the same way.  If you’re interested in developing (or expanding on) a creative practice as a means to reconnect to your intuition, lose your stress, and improve your professional performance, please join me over at Harmony Coaching.

(Feeling) Hopeful

Hope is a valuable commodity, in my opinion.  Without it, we often can’t or don’t make our dreams come true.

Action is necessary; dreams don’t come true through hope alone.  However, without hope, we are much more likely to give up when the work is hard.

How do you keep hope alive when you’re working towards your vision?

Constructive criticism and comments are always welcome.  Please share your thoughts!

(Feeling) Crushed

Feeling crushed.  We’ve all felt this.

That deep sense of disappointment.

The death or suppression of a dream.

Despair for a perceived loss of success, love, happiness.

That sinking feeling when we’re blinded to our own potential.

When someone stomps on our heart space, we feel crushed.

When was the last time you felt crushed?  What happened?

Constructive criticism and comments are always welcome.  Please share your thoughts!
